Trusting Self-Signed Certificates with IE6/7 |
|
A self-signed certificate is signed by its own creator. Because of this, the certificate is not trusted by web browsers. Users can continue, but have to bypass a security message. A self-signed certificate is typically used for testing or a small application that is specific to one purpose and the owners of the site determines rather then spending $$$ on "trusted" cert, the users going to the website can instead select to trust the cert in their web browser.
- Visit the web site in Internet Explorer.

- Click on Continue to this website (not recommended)
- Click on Certificate Error in the red colored address bar

- Click on View certificates
